Every Wednesday until 3 PM or 5 PM

Welcome to our day of fasting and prayer! Together, we are setting aside time to draw near to God, deepen our faith, and seek His guidance and strength. As we fast today, let this devotional guide you through moments of meditation and prayer.

Fasting is a powerful spiritual practice that clears our minds and opens our hearts to God. As we intentionally set aside food, we are reminded of our true source of strength and satisfaction—God alone. Today, as we fast, let each hunger pang turn us toward prayer. Allow God to fill our spirits with His presence, guidance, and peace.

Fasting Timeline with Scripture and Reflections

Morning (7-9 AM)

Scripture: Matthew 6:16-18
“When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fasting… But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”

Reflection: Begin our fast with a heart of humility. Remember that fasting is a private act of devotion between us and God. Offer up this day to Him, asking for strength, clarity, and a greater sensitivity to His presence.

Late Morning (10-11 AM)

Scripture: Isaiah 58:6
“Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?”

Reflection: Let this time remind us of the power of fasting to bring transformation. Pray for the breaking of spiritual and emotional chains in our lives, families, and community. Ask God to help us grow in love, justice, and compassion.

Afternoon (12-1 PM)

Scripture: Psalm 63:1
“You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water.”

Reflection: As hunger intensifies, let our physical thirst remind us of the deeper, spiritual thirst only God can satisfy. Spend time in prayer, pouring out our hearts to God and asking Him to fill us with His Spirit. Seek a greater longing for His presence in our lives.

Late Afternoon (2-3 PM)

Scripture: John 6:35
“Then Jesus declared, ‘I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.’”

Reflection: Remember that Jesus is our ultimate sustenance. Ask Him to help us rely on His strength today and to teach us to hunger for Him above all else. Pray for faith to trust Him to meet all our needs.

Early Evening (After Breaking the Fast)

Scripture: Matthew 5:6
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.”

Reflection: As we come to the end of our fast, take time to thank God for the day and the spiritual nourishment He has given us. Ask Him to keep our hearts continually hungry for righteousness and for His will in every part of our lives.
